Trek Overview

The Nangma Valley Trek is a nine-day expedition delivering direct access to granite walls that rival Yosemite, with two distinct base camp explorations from a 3,950-meter staging camp. This Karakoram trekking route from Kanday village (2,900m) reaches the heart of Pakistan's premier rock climbing destination, where Amin Brakk (5,850m) towers as a near-vertical monolith and the K6 massif (7,282m) dominates the upper valley. The route follows the Nangma stream through Mingulo Broq (3,500m) to a base camp at 3,950 meters, surrounded by granite spires visible from camp: Changi Tower (5,820m), Shingu Charpa the Great Tower (5,800m), King and Son Peak (5,200m), and the Green Tower formations (5,000-5,400m). Two full-day hikes explore separate objectives. Day six pushes to Zahid Base Camp (4,500m) for views of the K6 massif's south face, the same approach used by Eduard Koblmiller's 1970 Austrian expedition. Trekkers wanting to reach the base of K6 and K7's massive vertical granite walls directly, rather than the south-face base camp this route visits, will find that terrain on the Charakusa Valley Trek (K6/K7 Base Camp), a separate, longer route from Hushe Village. Day seven targets Amin Brakk Base Camp (4,550m), where trekkers stand beneath the 1,000-meter granite wall that Spanish climbers first scaled in 1999. Moderate trekking fitness handles this route comfortably. The only demanding stretch is Day 4's climb from Kanday to Mingulo Broq, gaining 600 meters over four hours — every other day is shorter and gentler. Altitude tops out at 3,950 meters for sleeping and 4,550 meters on the day hikes, with the gradual daily elevation gain built into the itinerary supporting acclimatization along the way. This is an accessible trek for most fit walkers, not one requiring prior high-altitude experience. 14 Adventure provides guides with specialized Nangma Valley experience, local porter support from Kanday village, and acclimatization protocols designed for the valley's unique altitude profile. The nine-day structure delivers both base camp objectives Zahid and Amin Brakk in a single expedition, offering the comprehensive granite valley experience that draws climbers and trekkers to this remote corner of the Karakoram.
