Essential Information

Terms & Conditions

These guidelines outline our shared responsibilities, booking procedures, and safety protocols for high-altitude expeditions in the Karakoram.

1. Booking, Visas & Flights

All bookings begin with an initial request via our website or email. Upon receiving your request, we will provisionally reserve your spot on the expedition until you notify us of a cancellation. To ensure our group rosters are accurate, we will periodically check in with you to confirm your continued interest and ensure your travel plans are still on track.

To support your Pakistan visa application, we require a copy of your passport, which must be valid for at least six (6) months beyond your intended departure date from Pakistan. When you are ready to submit your application, we will provide a comprehensive visa support package—including your official Letter of Invitation (LOI), a copy of our company operating license, and other required supporting documentation. Your spot transitions from a provisional reservation to a fully confirmed booking once your 30% deposit is paid following the submission of your visa application.

International Flights: Our expedition packages begin and end in Islamabad. Booking and paying for international flights from your home country to Pakistan is your sole responsibility and is not included in the package price.

Deposit & Balance: A 30% deposit is required once you have officially submitted your visa application to secure your logistics. The remaining 70% balance can either be paid via bank transfer anytime after your visa is approved, or settled in person upon your arrival in Islamabad before the expedition begins.

Visa Denials: If the Pakistan government formally denies your visa, we will refund your 30% deposit minus a $150 USD administrative fee. The LOI and visa support documents are strictly for participating in our expedition. Misuse of these documents will result in immediate cancellation without refund and notification to local authorities.

2. Itinerary Changes & Extra Costs

Travel in high-altitude environments is unpredictable. 14 Adventure is not liable for itinerary changes or delays caused by factors beyond our control (Force Majeure), including extreme mountain weather, landslides, or political instability.

Early Completion & Extra Nights: Our expedition packages cover accommodations for the scheduled itinerary dates only. Any additional hotel nights required due to arriving in Pakistan early, departing late, or finishing a trek/expedition ahead of schedule (for any reason) are the sole financial responsibility of the client.

Group Logistics & Splitting: The prices listed on our website are based on shared group logistics. If you choose, or are required by circumstances, to split from the main group at any stage of the trip, any resulting extra expenses—including but not limited to private jeeps, additional porters, or separate hotel accommodations—will be strictly at your own expense.

3. Health, Fitness & Insurance

Medical & Physical Fitness: High-altitude treks in the Karakoram are physically demanding. You are entirely responsible for ensuring you are medically and physically fit enough to handle the specific itinerary you have booked. 14 Adventure accepts no liability, and no refunds will be issued, if you are unable to participate in or complete the trek due to a lack of adequate physical fitness.

Due to the remote and extreme nature of the Karakoram, comprehensive travel and rescue insurance is strictly mandatory for all mountaineering expeditions and major high-altitude treks (such as K2 Base Camp, Snow Lake, etc.). For shorter, accessible valley treks (such as Nangma Valley or Patundas), standard medical and travel insurance is highly recommended.

Assumption of Financial Responsibility: Regardless of the trek’s difficulty or your insurance status, 14 Adventure is never financially responsible for any medical, rescue, or evacuation costs. Any expenses incurred due to illness, injury, or emergency—including but not limited to stretcher porters, private jeeps, local hospital bills, or helicopter evacuations—are entirely the financial responsibility of the client.

For trips requiring rescue coverage: Your policy must explicitly cover high-altitude mountaineering or trekking up to the maximum altitude of your specific itinerary, as well as emergency helicopter evacuation. Proof of this active coverage must be provided to our team prior to your arrival in Islamabad.

Global Rescue Recommendation: For major treks and expeditions, we strongly recommend purchasing a Global Rescue membership (ensuring you include their High-Altitude Evacuation upgrade for trips above 4,600m). Global Rescue has a direct, proven operational relationship with Askari Aviation, which guarantees immediate deployment.

Upfront Helicopter Rescue Costs: Askari Aviation requires an upfront payment of $10,000 to $15,000 USD before they will initiate a helicopter rescue. 14 Adventure cannot front this cost on your behalf. If you require an evacuation but lack approved coverage, we can only initiate a rescue request with Askari Aviation if you or your emergency contacts immediately provide the required funds in cash or furnish a verified bank transfer receipt. Without immediate proof of funds, the helicopter will not be dispatched.

4. Cancellation & Refunds

Because we incur upfront logistics costs (such as domestic flights, permits, and staff retainers) well before your arrival, cancellation fees apply. Since we allow clients the flexibility to pay the 70% balance upon arrival, our cancellation policy is designed to be fair regardless of when you choose to pay your balance:

  • Cancellation Before Arrival: The cancellation fee is strictly your 30% deposit. If you only paid the deposit, it is forfeited. If you chose to pay the full 100% in advance, your 30% deposit is forfeited, and the remaining 70% will be fully refunded to you.
  • No-Show or Withdrawal During the Expedition: Once the trip has begun, the penalty is 100% of the total trip cost. Because all logistics, transport, and staff are paid for in advance as shared group expenses, no refunds will be issued for no-shows, early departures, or voluntary withdrawals at any point during the itinerary for any reason.

Note: In the sole event that your Pakistan Visa is officially denied prior to arrival, your 30% deposit will be refunded minus a $150 USD administrative fee, as stated in Section 1.
