Trek Overview
The Five 8000er Base Camp Trek stands as the world's only expedition reaching five distinct 8,000-meter base camps in a single 29 day journey. This route traverses both the Central Karakoram and Western Himalaya, bringing trekkers to K2 (8,611m), Broad Peak (8,051m), Gasherbrum I (8,080m), Gasherbrum II (8,035m), and Nanga Parbat (8,126m) an achievement normally requiring multiple separate expeditions spanning years. The journey follows the 62 kilometer Baltoro Glacier to Concordia at 4,691 meters, where four massive glaciers converge beneath K2's south face. From Concordia, trekkers continue up the Godwin-Austen Glacier, passing Broad Peak Base Camp (4,850m) along the way, to reach K2 Base Camp at 5,150 meters, before continuing east along the Abruzzi Glacier to reach both Gasherbrum base camps. The Karakoram section culminates with the technical crossing of Gondogoro La Pass at 5,585 meters, requiring crampons, harness, and fixed ropes for the pre dawn ascent and rappel descent into the Hushe Valley. After returning to Skardu, the expedition transitions via the Karakoram Highway to the Western Himalaya. The approach through Fairy Meadows (3,300m) leads to Nanga Parbat Base Camp at 4,150 meters, completing the circuit of five eight thousanders. This trek demands prior high altitude experience above 5,000 meters and sustained physical output over 21 trekking days, with twelve consecutive days spent above 4,000 meters during the Baltoro section. 14 Adventure manages the complex logistics spanning two mountain ranges: experienced guides for both Karakoram glacier navigation and Himalayan alpine approaches. As a ground operator, we run this route to the same food safety, hygiene, and camp service standards expected by the international agencies we regularly work with — full board meals, porter support for all camping equipment, and experienced crew on every departure. Buffer days in Skardu and Islamabad absorb weather delays common to mountain flights and high-altitude pass crossings, keeping the full circuit — Karakoram and Western Himalaya alike — on schedule.
